Well, I certainly thought it a possibility when I read it, but this and other Gawker sites have sadly proven Ballaban’s “banned” sentiment to not always be in jest. The authors in question usually don’t go out of their way to announce said banishment, they just do it underhandedly.

Don’t be so sure. You might not be as familiar as you think about how things frequently work around here. There are a number of Jalopnik contributors that can’t handle a joke or a critique directed at them. These people often respond with a ban. This is still Gawker media after all, and it has a way of showing through…

I’m not necessarily either, but many of the authors around these parts have regularly resorted to such things when questioned on their non-sequitur posts having no good place on this site.

Here’s why it’s possible: There are some other contributors around here who have absolutely banned posters for their being questioned. Particularly on non-sequiter posts having almost nothing to do with what Jalopnik is allegedly supposed to cover. Special Snowflake Stef Schrader comes first to mind.

You see, this is how it works around here. Do not question self-righteous, entitled millenial when on his self-righteous, entitled rant that no on else cares about. Self-righteous, entitled millenial can only respond with banning you. Why? Because mommy and daddy told him growing up that he should never be criticized.
