Here in BC if you hit a rock stopped on the road it’s your fault and your insurance goes up. If the rock was still in motion it’s like a wildlife strike. Pay your deductible and your insurance won’t go up. It’s not your fault.

ANY self driving system should have triple redundancy for sensor inputs by law. Radar, Lidar AND Vision. Most companies are already using all 3 for a reason. If your vision camera gets blinded by fog or a splash from a puddle, radar will still ping ‘don’t drive into that thing’ and lidar will still ping ‘don’t drive

That’s a sign of an undersized battery and poor design. That cold motor all of a sudden switching on and running at full load will have a short lifespan. A properly designed PHEV should be able to get enough amps from the battery pack to satisfy full throttle use. That means you can downsize the ICE motor and properly

Maybe the current crop of PHEV vehicles mostly suck? The Chevy Volt hit the nail on the head in 2016 and yet most PHEV vehicles are worse. Why? They cheaped out on the battery. That 16.5kWh battery pack was 400 lbs. Modern battery tech has almost doubled in energy density.

New EV prices are falling year over year thanks to cheaper input costs, so used EV prices are moving to match. That can mean someone who overpaid for an early overpriced EV can be left holding the bag. That makes their used car a bargain if it’s priced right.

Quiet pipes means you have the faster bike on the street. Without being loud, you are totally ignored by the local constabulary. After 3 1/2 decades of loud and quiet bikes I go for the quiet bike and hoon the shit out of it.

I hit a Junebug at 100kph (60mph) square in the middle of my visor and it sounded like a gunshot. The freaky part is I was instantly blinded with a blur until I realized that it was bug guts. The things are flying ping pong balls of goo.

The guy with the black Merc is Zyves.

All the smug electric car owners are starting out this emergency with a full battery. As long as they have a long range car they are golden. Short range car?  You gonna die.

The stupid mother fucker who negotiated the ‘new’ NAFTA deal when he was president.

I was once a mechanic and the number of 6 figure car drivers that are running around with bald tires and begging their mechanic to put in cheap regular oil instead of synthetic oil is insane. Half of these guys don’t have 2 dimes to rub together.

A friend bought his dream Porsche 911. Can he drive it fast? NOPE. It’s a cop magnet. You want to go fast on the street? Buy something that is fast but looks slow.

Bill him $40k for the ‘environmental damage’ of dumping tons of jet fuel into the atmosphere.

This will convince me to not buy a GM product. $25 a month. $300/yr. $3000 for 10 years? Go fuck yourself. My phone does this for free with it’s existing data plan.

The fix for this is simple. The government should force all car manufacturers to ensure that their factory exhaust systems comply with federal noise laws and issue a recall if they do not.

I see Ioniq 5 N reviewers with grins on their faces. The fake engine BS is fun every now and then.

The owner failed to tick the “don’t burst into flames” box on page 51 of 98 in the EULA.

That’s a super cool car and I can see why it’s up for sale. Jeremy is now far to fat to ever drive it again.

Ban camera only self driving. Proper safety systems have redundancy. In this case, redundancy means vision + radar + lidar. The same as all the other makers are doing.

Rear seats have strict crash standards now. This wouldn’t fly in the car market.
Trucks however? Exempt if they are heavy enough. The cybertruck is not being crash tested for example.
