The point, which you’re deliberately missing, is this particular crime is harder to prove than others. Merely, because the only defense a man needs is “she wanted it”.

One can treat convicted serial rapists humanely, that does NOT mean you should write glowing letters of character about them. That’s fucking delusional and insulting and dismissive to the victim.
I think we all often have this notion that predators are immediately recognizable on sight and act horrifically to everyone in their lives. There’s a reason why almost every episode of Dateline involves someone who just can’t believe their loved one is a murderer. I don’t think anyone could compel me to write a letter…
When I write letters, they’re generally prefaced,
lol well to be fair most people alive today are likely the bastard offspring of Genghis Kahn. But to be honest your not wrong, I think MOST people likely have something in their past they wouldn’t want made public. But also Christina Ricci is the best.
Sounds like projection to me. Scumbag cops think everyone else is as scummy as they are.
I hope someone gives this guy a swift kick in the dick several times on your behalf.
Humane take? Humane to WHO exactly - not the victim obviously, but rather the convicted perpetrator.
ACAB
If a family member or close friend was convicted for multiple rapes, I would personally lock the cell and throw the key in the sewer.
I don’t find the words of police sergeants very compelling, if I’m honest.
A failing of humanity writ large is overvaluing the personal/anecdotal evidence over mountains of evidence in the opposite direction. Unless you believe somebody was wrongly convicted, arguing for leniency on their behalf is more or less just saying “my experiences with that person weren’t where he raped anybody I…
But until then I’ll maintain that she seems pretty cool.
In case anyone’s not keeping track of the “2020s decade of things that should go without saying but here we are having to say them anyway”:
Christina Ricci is awesome. I realize that she is not Wednesday Addams in real life, but it would be nice if she got revenge on her abuser Wednesday-style
“If I had a family member or close friend that was convicted of a crime, even a particularly disgusting one such as rape, it would be pretty hard to refuse a request to write about any redeeming values that might lighten the sentence. It would be akin to disowning them entirely.”
I don’t know if you’re a serial troll…
I don’t f*ck with instagram, but I was sexually assaulted by my sister’s husband the first time he visited our home. I was 15. I have just now spoken up after I won’t say how many many years. I don’t care what anyone thinks of me, but he has spent decades shit talking so many people that perhaps the ‘wheel’ will come…
It’s not a new observation, but B&R is really unfairly maligned. It’s not a good movie by any stretch, but most people refused to take it on its own terms. It’s supposed to be stupid and ridiculous, the same way the 60s show is. Now, that might have been ill-advised and not at all what the public wanted or expected,…
Meh, I’ll catch it next time.
People can still be good human beings to others and also have sick pathologies, especially of the sexual kind. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.
