I’m an American and apparently I’m one of the lucky ones whose parents were NOT wowsers. They didn’t have any problem with 7-12 year old me watching those old Sinbad movies (Jane Seymour is naked for a split-second, and Caroline Munro is wearing a “tits on the half-shell” harem girl outfit) , reading Greek mythology

Yes, let’s make everything OK for everyone so nothing is great for anyone. The hyperbole was intended, but here’s an idea: it’s OK if D&D isn’t for everyone just like hockey or hip-hop aren’t for everyone. There are a bout a billion other role playing games in existence.

The Disney-fication of geek sub-cultures is not

Sheesh... what is up with that 5th edition character art? These look like somebody grabbed the first humanoid figures they could find off of RoyaltyFree3dModels.com, added some wings and a tail, and called it a day.

I started D&D on the first edition when I was twelve. I happen to be female. It was our habit to draw a representation of our characters and use them as screens so that other players couldn’t see your notes / character sheets. Myself and the other female player always drew our characters (not well) in the usual half

I’m all about T&A for everyone. All I ask is that you don’t remove T&A, just balance it out. I like my D&D a little on the sexy side.

Put the double D’s back in D&D!

I assume DnD is starting to realize we are in an ass-dominated society at the moment.

Maybe I should give the entire article a read but I stopped when you started taking Rail Wars seriously. That’s an anime made for the purpose of fan service and if you are trying to point out that there should be no fan service then I think you are straight wrong. If you are trying to argue that even serious shows

also why are you in the comments section insulting lindy west while complaining about her criticism of...the comments section?

Excuse me if I’m not going to go out of my way to support someone who disdains me:

Gizmodo exercises an iron fist of control to silence and ostracize any comment that doesn’t align with their message. It’s hard to tear apart something that’s barely got integrity in the first place.

...and Gizmodo isn’t? lmaoo

This is irrelevant.

The guy was a pulp author from the 30s, churning out stories on a penny-a-word basis (when he got paid for his work at all) for cheap, sensationalistic publications like Black Mask and Weird Tales.

“Male Feminist”

After reading the Belit part, I have the feeling that anything except Conan’s part himself as a front-line fighter would have resulted in the same criticisms. Not even getting into the fashion choice (which, while.... minimalist, is also very Conan):

Ya, sorry, the outrage meter isn’t registering here. Conan is and always has been a male power fantasy. The designers and artists have stayed true to the source material.

So lemme get this straight:

And Conan himself isn’t wearing much either. Infact, the women most of the time wear more than he does. Look at him, he’s sporting, some boots, loin cloth and bracers. That’s about it.

normally I’d be all against sexist depictions of woman and such but really its a barbarian setting. its kinda its stick.
