Publishing that document, if you have gotten your hands on it, is the most basic and essential act of reporting. The mandate to publish that document is not a matter of journalistic ethics, but the entire reason to have a free press.
Frankly, you are being willfully ignorant and naive if you are pretending not to understand the difference between material gathered and then discussed among senators and intelligence agencies. And unsubstantiated nonsense.
The source for one of those was the unhinged rantings of a conspiracy theorist on the internet. The source for the other was every intelligence agency in the country, groups who found this credible enough to bring to the attention of our entire government.

The issue is that in some Southern states there are damn few places to go to get your ID. It takes a whole day and often giving up a day’s pay from your shitty job in addition to whatever the fee is.
