Minus $7500 credit means the price is actually within a couple grand of the AVERAGE new car sales price in America.  I would say that average is affordable, given thats what most people are spending.

Because the lower price model is accessible to many more buyers, especially with the full $7500 credit still available. This would stretch my finances but honestly has me considering a deposit. My family wants an EV badly, but what am I gonna buy, a bolt or a leaf? yuck.

My issue here is the premise of the story, claiming it will somehow be “the car to beat” when in fact there’s nothing to measure it against anything as its not even in production yet.

Tesla mediocre build quality is still better than Nissan build quality lol. Interior is still better than the leaf as well even with the build quality issues. You’ll find just as many creaks and issues on a leaf. But it’s generally accepted because they mostly make entry/mid level cars and not luxury cars.

So, in the 6 or so years since the Tesla Model S and X have been on the road, there have been 8 Tesla vehicle fires worldwide. This one in particular is 1 of the 2 that did not occur as the direct result of a car crash (the other 6 were due to crashes).

For all viable electric cars, then.
