@jupiterthunder: I think you're absolutely right, and there are two suggestions that came immediately to mind.

This looks many, many times more streamlined/user friendly than the Windows Mobile version - and after the big announcement today, I don't think that's going to change...

@njdevil: Gentlemen, gentlemen, please - don't you know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder? It's all relative, baby!

@drewkkake: The downside, I should mention, was that we had to do the stapling there in their dorm, since constructed it was too large to fit in our SUV. If I could do it again, I would use a rod/weighted system like this DIYer did - very clever

My little brothers (twins) started college this year, and instead of buying a small LCD for their dorm room, I convinced them to go with a cheap 720p projector. For the (100") screen, we used about $20 worth of white blackout drapery stretched over and stapled to a wood frame; the results were excellent and it only

It looks pretty seamless in his setup, almost like the monitors are floating. I think I'd spend just $15 more on a Monoprice stand, though, since it takes up less space behind the desk and is HIGHLY flexible.

@stopcrazypp: It holds no water to other Microsoft employees, but you have to consider that this is an insider stating what "WE'VE" tried to do, implying that he is speaking on behalf of the company.

@Fractal the Meek: What information is it that you want shown on a home screen that 6.5 does not show?

@drewkkake: CRAP!!! Sorry for the triple post - I also wanted to mention that my '06 4runner SR5 put out 236 horses, and it KICKED SERIOUS ASS as far as acceleration goes. I think the '10's V6 sounds like a total beast.

@drewkkake: that would be everyDAY, not everything, tasks.

I always appreciated my 2006 4runner's off-road capabilities, but I really loved it for its car-like ride (handling AND super smooth road feel) and its interior storage space for moving myself to and from college.

@VilleNike: I see this from two perspectives...

I've been running 7 on a four-year-old Dell Latitude D610 with a 1.86 GHz Centrino processor and 1.5 GB RAM. My Intel GMA 915 isn't supported with an official "WDDM" Vista driver (because it doesn't have "hardware scheduling" or something), so I don't have Aero. Other than that, though, 7 has performed well beyond my

@domino: ...it's a high heel - he could have picked any number of his wife's shoes and the design would have looked essentially the same.

It does mean a lot that those of us who choose not to go the iPod route are being supported. Keep up the good work, fellas.

Remote desktop is fantastic from work - of course there is a short lag, but it is by no means unusable (I'd say the setup is about as quick as a PIII computer). Of course, I have FiOS at home, so YMMV.

I've got a zune and I feel like others would, too, if the ipod wasn't the de facto standard MP3 player. Of course, why wouldn't it be? It's a closed system! People practically have to buy ipods generation after generation in order to play itunes-purchased songs (up until the DRM free ones, but those cost more). Except
