It’s the charge, it the pleas 97% of cases in the U.S. end up in a plea bargain to a lesser charge. It’s easier faster for prosecution and the person is convicted and sentenced. Most charges are initially over charged in order to force the culpit to plea to something lesser.

Exactly sentencing is wide it isn’t rigid, facing life means nothing, sometimes people are charge with 3 to life, then only get 1 year. Chances are the prosecution wont recommend life for this girl, if they do oh well, she raped someone with a weapon, I’d say the same for a man accused of rape.
