Regardless of size, a state shouldnt have the power to dictate Federal Law. The larger picture here is that California wants to shape the Country’s Laws to appease its residents.

If you were the insurance adjuster, would you really want to spend all that money to repair the car, only to hand that car back to the owner who couldn’t make it to the nearest gas station to get it’s first fill up of premium without wrecking it?

I’m unfamiliar with how the chargers get installed, but it seems to me a good middle ground would be to make sure the garages have 220V (in the US) outlets. Then design the chargers to use 220V like a stove or dryer would. Or do they run some sort of higher voltage from the transformer?
