I once drove a Santa Fe on dark, twisty, mountain roads. It was the most terrifying drive of my life...to this day I have never experienced anything that was as disconnected from the road and made me question what the car was doing at each moment.

Yes, a pattern there is. Of course you should regress the number of Toyota buyers in each age group against the number of incidents of UA to be sure.

Toyota will be recalling Prius for floor mats...didn't they do this already?

Aha, so reading the NBC article clarifies that he appeared to be riding his breaks until they were gone, and then CHP instructed him how to use the e-brake and turn the car off. Kinda think that in addition to a license exam, we now need annual exams that assure that drivers know how to operate their own vehicles.

@kburgs88: Toyota did not replicate the problem, Exponent did. I'm assuming that as part of the Congressional testimony, Gilbert had to disclose some details of how a 200ohm resistor, wire strippers, and some other odds and ends commonly found in the foot well of a Toyota end up shorting out the throttle. As for

It really wouldn't be that hard to calculate economic damages suffered by Toyota from what amounts to libel...

@Volvo4life: I had the pleasure of seeing a Dino in this color at the Tutto Italiano at the Larz Anderson museum in MA a few years ago. Basking in the sun, it looked absolutely delicious, just like chocolate. I wanted to take a bite. It's no accident that Steve McQueen's 250gt Lusso was this color.

@bmoreDLJ: Oddly enough I agree...as far as these unnecessary incarnations go, the new Cayenne isn't bad looking. I quite like it...and I feel dirty saying that.

I love that even for $550, MADE IN CHINA is still proudly emblazed on the tongue.

@Scandinavian Flick: Hmm, that engine lid has got to be like super tempered glass of some sort...that would make a great coffee table.

If I had one of these, I'd be putting a fire suppression system in ASAP...

The NHTSA is now investigating Jalopnik for failure to properly post pictures.

Mmm, my gf has an 09 Corolla which I drive fairly frequently. Her's is one of the J VINs that doesn't fall under the pedal recall, and I cannot for the life of me understand how the floor mat could get under the gas pedal.

@Kuro: Yes, I'm afraid that even manual loving europeans will probably end up going the way of the dodo...

@Kuro: With regard to shifting into neutral, wouldn't be a problem if people still remembered how to drive a stick shift. Sigh.

Speaking of the Miura...if it's not already in Forza, why has it not shown up on the poll?

If I remember correctly, he drives a DTS...so much for the under 65 comment.

so what happened to good looking hondas? This thing is hideous.

@snapoversteer 'bout to get told: Yeah this is clearly a case of judging a car that you've never driven. My uncle has a fully loaded Avalon and having driven it a few times between Boston and Toronto I can assert that it eats up highway miles like a monster...and is pretty damn fast while being completely invisible.
