. Before the role went to Diesel, Timothy Olyphant reportedly turned it down. And while Olyphant is probably a better actor than Diesel—and while he’s brought great badass charisma of his own to TV shows like Deadwood and Justified—there’s just no way Olyphant would’ve been as good as Diesel.

its title came from a 1955 Roger Corman B-movie. (Universal licensed the title from Corman, paying him in discarded stock footage.)

Or even pissed off, like walkaways from some of the more evangelical sects are, @Lamashtar:disqus .

Apparently "Rounding Up" the amount to the nearest Mark or Euro (between 5%-10% of the amount) is customary in Germany, according to TripAdvisor, @roc_kit:disqus. In restaurants and bars at least, you're also supposed to tell them how much you're giving them, including tip, when you get the check - it's considered

@Lamashtar:disqus - he didn't need to be charismatic, he was a badass who'd lost everything so he needed to be…broken and empty inside, which is what he was.

Approps of nothing really, T and I have been watching an Indian cop show on Netflix called Agent Raghav - Crime Branch, that is surprisingly enjoyable in a completely indefensible, If You Liked Castle and/or The Mentalist You'll Like This Show kind of way. It's about Raghav Sinha, this super-smart, really smug

That's like saying "Lord of the Rings is a by-the-numbers fantasy", @disqus_XETDBVUGZF:disqus - it seems that way now, but back then it first came out it set the template everybody else follows to this day!

They were marking time a bit on Season 1 until the whole Who Killed Irene Adler/Who is Moriarty dual arc kicked in - but at the same time they were strengthening Sherlock's and Joan's relationship so their working as professional partners was believable.

Try the last half-dozen episodes of Season 1, where Who Killed Irene Adler? and Who Is Moriarty? start to heat up, would be my recommendation.

Pretty much, @avclub-33235e3d066bad95b6eea457826f7507:disqus - and I think it also gives you an understanding of the mindset, so you're not knee-jerk assuming "Libertarian=Koch Brother/Ron or Rand Paul/Glenn Beck/Clarence Thomas", all of whom are in fact Bigoted Religious Right Oligarchs who fake it!

What you neglected to tell him, @avclub-62812d8eb06386505986efff8b5e43ac:disqus, it that both socialism and capitalism can work when they're balanced, and have a strong external force making them stay in balance - so you can have Health Care For All AND Private Industry, a Strong Social Safety Net AND People Motivated

And not believe in their powers for a second either, @thadbarkley:disqus !

David Lynch, Rod Serling, and Steven Spielberg, while in many ways very different creatives, share a common gift for comedy as a leavening agent in their otherwise dramatic stories - and a complete inability to do comedy when it's the main ingredient. I guess it's a mindset thing - they know humor and absurdity is an

Well, it all makes a certain brilliant sense when you're eighteen or nineteen, out on your own for the first time, and sure you're one of The Chosen, @disqus_QvxqmGJwNf:disqus ! Then you get a bit older, life happens, and you realize there are a lot of holes in the reasoning that don't take into account anybody who's

@disqus_UpU25Evi1h:disqus - my response to you….

What the Hell? Sixty-Eight is far too young to die of natural causes!

Most Objectivists are, @gus_sheridan:disqus - including me, back in college when I was one.

I enjoy it quite a bit, @tarvolt:disqus - more than Sherlock, if I'm honest.
