“... briefly, heralded as the greatest car in the world.”

I didn’t describe the procedure in my original post properly, my bad. This is what I meant. Basically, going through each gear while keeping the clutch engaged the entire time, instead of just going from, say third, to neutral is pointless, especially when coming to a complete halt.

Exactly what I wanted to say, but failed to convey properly. So the person I’m referring to would do this:

I knew someone who did that except with a manual transmission. If there’s a stoplight ahead and the car is in third, for example, then shifting into second, then first, then neutral. Watching that, I used to want to pull my hair out.

This is one of the few times I can say I’ve liked a BMW interior, and that too is an almost-extreme closeup. The Z4 interior wasn’t bad either.

I’m laughing at you right now.

Interesting, considering the two are completely unrelated.

... a 50 year old performance car

Forgot that existed. I don’t understand how Toyota even failed with that one. Regardless, I am always fascinated with failed, single-generation models.

Ah, a fellow TVR fan! These machines are some of the most underrated of all time. I also dream of owning one, but my favorites are the Griffith, Cerbera, and Tuscan. Can’t choose just one. I’m also fascinated with the T350C and how no one ever talks about it.

The C63 weighs 4100 lbs! This is the smallest RWD car in MB’s lineup, mind you. I’m surprised the Jaguar was able to put down a half-decent lap time considering it can only do one thing right: look good (and not even that IMO).

Wasn’t that back when Motor Trend had separate awards for Domestic and Import categories?

Correction: looks like the I4 is going to be the new base engine in the S-Class. That would make the I6 and V8 mid-range.

MB is adding a 6-cylinder model to the S-Class lineup as an answer to the 740i, I guess. This is going to be the new lower-end model, and is not replacing the S550, which is now the mid-range model (non-AMG). Instead, a new 4.0 V8, making 475 hp, is going to replace the 4.7 V8 in the S550 (unfortunately, the car will

I want to say something that I’ve said before, what I’ll keep saying until enough people read it. The 550i GT is probably a future classic. Just think of it:

Mercedes needs to bring over the ForFour. I don’t understand why MB doesn’t push Smart the way BMW has pushed Mini. By the way, I love the color combination you have chosen.

What’s impressive is the 25.7 figure-eight lap time. Now, unless Motor Trend made changes to its figure-eight track since then, that time is quicker than brand new sedans such as the 330i and C300, much less the 3-Series and C-Class that were available at the time.

That’s because the 2009 CTS-V was a 20-year-old Hyundai recommissioned to destroy other sedans on the track. Oh snap! I joke of course, but no, that interior was horrible and not just by comparison.

“Understeer into a wall” mode is quite popular over at Audi as well.

What I find interesting about the Challenger is that we’ve seen two generations of the Mustang and Camaro come out since the Dodge was released in 2008, and yet it continues to look better than either of them despite being virtually unchanged for 8 years. They should really consider turbocharging the V6 (with AWD) to
