no 3rd party characters unlocked (and damn it, if I could, I’d turn off all 3rd party assists too) all items, all stages except 3rd party stages (on random), 3 stock, 5 minutes.

Yeah, the only 3d Mario's to really click with me are 3d land and 3d World, those 2 feel much closer to 2d Mario's than the others.

I think for me, it’s how different the pacing is, the 2d games you just run through the level as fast as you can avoiding pitfalls and killing enemies, in the 3d games the focus is more on exploration.

Yeah, that's fine. Like I said, knew I'm in the minority lol. It just felt so completely different from the previous games, and I'm one of those gamers that tends to want more of the same out of franchises I enjoy rather than something new.

I know I’m in the minority, but this is more like what 15 yo me was hoping for with Mario 64, I was incredibly disappointed when I bought it, and no, it never grew on me. I was so happy when Mario returned to 2d with Super Mario Bros DS.

Yes, the original premise of the series was to have all your favorite Nintendo characters fighting each other. including non Nintendo characters just feels wrong, and it has ever since they first added Snake and Sonic.

Always surprised how much vitriol is directed my way when I voice my opinion on this. Guess in this particular circumstance I am the only one lol.

I like the size of the roster, I just hate seeing characters that have nothing to do with a franchise shoehorned in to pull a few extra sales (bugs me a hell of a lot more in games that aren’t crossovers).

I hate guest characters in fighting games. I really wish Smash was just Nintendo characters again :/
