A paycheck is a paycheck, but I keep hoping Matt Smith will find a post-Doctor Who gig that actually uses him effectively.  I suspect I may be waiting a while.

...at the BOFA interchange. Honestly, the story checks out.

Technically, it was a BGP problem that manifested for end-users as a DNS problem.  I’d like to say that there’s an easy-to-understand summary that non-technical readers can share, but in fact nobody understands how BGP works.

Okay but Cyndi Lauper fronting for Nirvana would be unironically awesome?

I think you will find that the combined $1.3 Trillion dollars that the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies grossed for Disney might have also had something to do with it.

I still pine for the alternate universe where after the Concert for Life, the surviving members of Queen had invited George Michael to join the band. I’d say that Casino Royale, From Russia with Love and maaayyyyybe On Her Majesty’s Secret Service count as “good” in an objective sense and can be shown without apology to people who have never seen the films before and have nothing invested in the character. The rest of them all have their moments, but are as you say

My take on S6 and S7 is not that Moffat isn’t capable of restraining himself, but that attempting to do Sherlock simultaneously with Doctor Who was just not a thing he turned out to be capable of doing well. Notoriously, almost all of his scripts for S6 (and especially Let’s Kill Hitler and The Wedding of River Song) w

Love and Monsters isn’t good. In fact it’s so terrible that when I was re-watching the show with my kid during the first few months of lockdown, I specifically requested that we skip it, an honor it had all to itself.

Sure, but that participation and regret all happened safely after Davies had moved on.  Maybe time does heal all wounds, but I don’t think I’d bet much money on Eccleston showing up for the 60th.
