Extremely belated same.  Between that and Gab/Lateef’s track on the new DJ Shadow album, I’m hoping people will notice that they’re still here and still amazing.

finds him back together with his old Solesides compatriots, Lateef The Truthspeaker and Blackalicious’ Gift Of Gab

Well, and the part where it basically turned into a first-person shooter about a guy in power armor at the end.

...Natascha McElhone, Bokeem Woodbine...

Honestly 80% of the reason that I have a soft spot for the weird 2008 Miami Vice movie is that Farrell clearly made a decision to neither ape Don Johnson’s mannerisms nor condescend to the (frankly kinda silly) material.

De Niro plays Frank Sheeran, the real-life South Philly truck driver who moonlighted, over the second half of the 20th century, as a hired gun for the mafia

it’s a dad movie for dads who might alternate detective novels with Robert Caro’s The Power Broker

How much are we willing to bet that he didn’t at least make a pass at Michelle Rodriguez while making Avatar though?

There’s definitely a branch of the fuckers who are really into Norse-style neopaganism, which is one of the reasons I found it kinda delightful that Waititi turned the MCU Asgardians into Space Jews at the end of Ragnarok.

The sad thing about GoNY is that you can kinda see the bones of the movie Scorcese intended to make, and there are a couple of amazing moments in it. But it’s all sunk by two of the most insane bits of mis-casting in his career and by Scorcese’s unwillingness to keep Day-Lewis from leaving tooth marks on every last

And while Moore’s life (and sexuality) were more complex than this movie lets on...”

excelled at playing very human characters

The capsule description of the plot sounds like it’s taken more than a little bit of inspiration from Peter Watts’ Blindsight and Echopraxia.  I’m intrigued.

I was a little too young for “The Cars” and “Candy-O”, but “Heartbeat City” landed like a goddamn bomb in the middle of my early adolescence. “You Might Think” was completely inescapable during the summer of 1984, and a more perfect slice of deliberately crafted pop music is hard to imagine.
