Did you ever see the “Novel for Television” version of Lynch’s Dune that Universal released to SciFi Channel? There was a lengthy and kind of flat and clumsy prologue that nonetheless explains, quite clearly, the future history that led up to the events of the movie:

The same thing happened with a friend of ours (my wife and friends started watching Dune on HBO Max, and since I was running late I didn’t get there until about 2/3 of the way through) — not a SF fan, doesn’t much like violence, but she was...horrified the movie ended just like that and asked when “Part 2" was coming!

It’s not afraid to be serious, but it’s also a lot lighter on its feet than anything Zack Snyder’s ever done.

What came to my mind was, “How did the IATSE local know if they weren’t there?” Because didn’t IATSE walk out due to how recklessly fast they felt the production was working at, and because they were put up in a hotel an hour away despite being promised a nearby hotel?

Question of priorities — though thanks to this? Maybe convincing CGI gunshots will be prioritized, along with a mechanical way to pull people’s hand up like a recoil without firing anything.
