And as long as we decide that “the market” will fix problems like this, it’ll stay that way. Unregulated capitalism does not have society’s best interests at heart.

For anyone with even a medium amt of IT experience, just follow one of the online guides to setting up your own VPN service. Then every device in your household uses that VPN, as does your kid away at college, etc... All the network traffic is seen by Netflix as coming from on IP addr. Problem solved.

Plenty of nomads know how to deal with these issues w/o messing up their immediate environment. Just look at the advice from Bob Wells’ Cheap RV Living channel on Youtube for example. It’s always irresponsible people who mess things up for everyone else...

Gonna disagree on one point: Unix-based OSes (macOS, Linux, etc...) are inherently more secure WRT certain OS design features. That doesn’t mean, however, that they can’t be made insecure by an unaware sys admin or inexperienced app developer...
