If all Mom & Dad use their PC for is web browsing, this is a great suggestion. Get ‘em a lightweight, beginner friendly distro like Linux Mint with XFCE, and show them how to logon/off & start the web browser. Badda boom, badda bing.

I have a (distant, via marriage) family relationship with Crenshaw. And “dumbest possible logic” is pretty much his jam.

Great Googly-Moogly! Those hotter than red hot engine components that close to a propane canister ?! Nope, nope, nope...

I didn’t say he was anything. But there are definitely a good number of racists in the U.K.

Believe it or not, unlike the US, we are not a racist country.

At least there’s one set of headphones that have a chance of sounding decent with respect to musical quality: the Sony MDR-7506. I have a pair and they’re quite nice for the cost. Are they as musical as my Sennheiser HD 560s headphones ? No, but they’re also less than half the price and don’t need a headphone amp.

Agree. FutureDoc needs a hybrid Sienna. No shame in that, the Sienna is a great vehicle.

Glad I ended up avoiding it, even tho’ I used to be very nearsighted. Now have implanted lenses due to cataract surgery a few years ago. Easiest surgery you’ll ever go through, and the results are amazing.

Claire is a gift for all food-consuming humans.

Saw headline, read story, went to comment section prepared for the usual ageist garbage (“the olds are too slow, stubborn, can’t learn new things”). Was not disappointed.

Ya gotta use good mayo. The answer for dishes like this is always Kewpie Mayohttps://www.kewpie.com/en/products/mayonnaise/

Freight train operators across the industry shrank employment roles during the pandemic, leading to a big boost in profits but also a bevy of underpaid, over-worked union members.

I’d just be careful of being lutefisked. Where your ex air-dries you and soaks your desiccated corpse in lye...

This is somewhat good news for the rest of the business world. Now maybe we can get the technology hires we’ve been looking for since Spring 2021. The only problem is with these three companies & their weird-ass management, plus Peloton (there’s another “genius” business model for ya).

The two Honda Odysseys we’ve owned (our current one is a 2010 model). Solid as a rock, comfortable, great vehicle for a family with kids, taken us on many long road trips with nary a hiccup. For our purposes, they’re ideal.

That’s dangerous enough with modern planes and 30 year old pilots, it’s nuts to do it with priceless artifacts that are over 75 years old with 50+ year old pilots.

Absolutely. There’s a knee-jerk reaction people have about that (“Don’t count on Social Security, it won’t be there.”) But honestly ? Any political party that kills Social Security/Medicare just committed political suicide. And they know it.

Good idea from Ford, but the price is more than a bit off-putting. I guess it’s for the trust fund, Instagram kids...

If Honda still sold the Fit, I’d drive one. Would meet my std day-to-day needs quite nicely. As it is, I have a Civic sedan - so not too much bigger.

The good doctor is channeling my wife, apparently... 😅
