Well said. Applying the brake will stop the car even with a stuck floormat. So many people don't realize how hard it is for a car to overpower its brakes.

In a small chance, it is possible. I am going by the number one cause of unintended acceleration according to NHTSA in relation to the Toyota cases and that is "pedal misapplication."

I think this only furthers cars as disposable devices. Right now you can find all kinds of ten and twenty year old cars on the used market that are perfectly usable because their entertainment systems use technology that is representative of a couple decades.

The TMZ article says the car is totaled. I know they are in no way an authority on anything automotive but the car is way too valuable and the damage seems pretty repairable.

As a proud 2011 Miata owner, the car is nearly perfect. I owe many thanks to Mazda for getting the driving feel right which so many other manufacturers miss.

Motorcycles do not get that great of fuel mileage when you consider the weight they move and displacement of most bikes. The other costs offset fuel savings such as tires that wear out quickly and fluids being changed more often.

I am truly amazed that these things are as safe as they are considering how compact everything is. Brilliant engineering has saved the lives of many drivers over the years. I look at a Formula 1 car and can barely comprehend how there is enough impact absorption to save a life at such speeds.

I'm seriously wanting to sign up for proformance racing school's one day class with my Miata at Pacific Raceways. Anyone here have experience with their school and the track? This seems to be the closest and most affordable instruction around.

My first real automotive love that I had wanted as a child first seeing it in Back to the Future. For years I was obsessed and growing up everyone said I would never have it. It only made me work harder. It has been years of headache and pleasure but I would do it all the same. There are better cars, but nothing else
