I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last 4 years. People want to work for what they get.

No kidding - I’ve been making these up with my husband too! My favorite of his was:

The “look at these big number taxes!” argument is so stupid just on its face. Government spending creates wealth, not the other way around. That wealth is then taxed and cycles through the economy.
