Do the facts that she suffers from mental problems or that she has obviously threatened police before somehow preclude her from flipping out and attacking officers? Or do they make that a plausible scenario? I’d really like to know if anybody can apply logic to the situation.

False. A red light does not mean “stop.” A red light means “do not enter the intersection.” Therfore when the light turns red as a person sits there they are breaking no laws by continuing through. You probably think a yellow light means “slow down” as well.
