Even aside from the question of “how bad was the thing he did,” a big part of why I can’t enjoy Ansari as much as I used to is that his whole “thing” for the last few years has been keen observations of modern adult dating culture. He wrote a book about it, ffs.

“Colour-code your infants so strangers can tell what their genitals look like!”

Lol, I have no strong feelings about jazz and I’ve never seen Whiplash; I’m not sure why I clicked in the first place.

You clicked, though.

It’s a well-established trope that any woman who throws up in any movie or TV show is pregnant. I kind of hope they side-step that in this case, though.

I believe she declined the cameo to avoid taking attention away from the new Mary, but I do think it would have been cute.

I’m with you regarding Die Hard and Gremlins, but I think Nightmare Before Christmas fits as a Christmas movie. It’s about redemption and coming together with those you love, if nothing else.

I like Poe and Oscar Isaac (and the new Star Wars movies), but I have to admit the movies would probably be better if he hadn’t come back. A lot of the movies’ issues with being overstuffed would be solved with one fewer protagonist.

Platypus, giant squid, okapi, narwhal, that lizard that shoots blood out of its eyes.

Talk show host and comedian Dennis Miller has become something like the American right’s leading comic in recent years.

No one’s brave enough to say Shrek, I see.

Could be! I don’t doubt that you know your area’s bylaws.

Registering your dog is required everywhere I’ve heard of (I live in southern Ontario). I’ve never actually seen it enforced (like, vets don’t ask or anything), but presumably if your dog runs away or gets into trouble there could be a fine.

I think that was the joke, but it’s hard to tell on the Internet.

“No more Spider-Man movies.”

Ah shoot, I only read the summary up to the point where the Prince finds her. Serves me right for skimming, I guess.

Per the article, she’s talking about a story she read to her kids, not the Disney movie. Obviously we have no way of knowing the plot of that story - in the original fairy tale they never met before the kiss, but I think most modern adaptations have them fall in love beforehand.

Very gross comment, out-of-context.
