Not sure I agree. He's no great melodist. Chord progressions and time signatures nothing really special. No memorable guitar riffs. Yet his songs have been covered and reinterpreted endlessly. No I think it's the words.

Thats exactly right. I think you have to be extra careful dealing with people in the service industry; they are in a way compelled to be nice to you, and its not cool to take advantage of it. Let them make the first move if they want to.
