You’ve been very lucky with your bosses if this doesn’t ring true to you.

I, uh, wow. Have you contacted Webster’s?

This is my issue with Bill Maher’s “whiny little bitch” campaign — he’s trying to insult Trump, but the way he’s doing it says, “Women are weak and pathetic and the worst possible thing anyone could be.” It’s such a common trope, and it’s just exhausting.

their fans are boys and man-children and “they know not what it means”.

People may have different opinions, but I try to give kids a lot of leeway on this — they’re not trying to be indelicate, they’re just being kids! I’ll hear kids in public from time to time saying “Mommy/Daddy, why is he using that?”, and I normally hear the parent answer “it helps him get around.” To me, that’s

I’m 31 and use a cane. My cane isn’t a symbol of my disablities, it’s freedom! With my cane, I can walk longer and farther than I could without it. Abled folks don’t seem to realize that for many of us, our assisstive devices are liberating, not a prison^.^

South Park made Timmy and Jimmy peers of the main characters. They are not defined by their disabilities, and are annoyed at those who try talk down to them. Jimmy was the hero of a recent season, in which he stands up for freedom of the press at a time when a cowardly town could have cared less.

Then you share in the ignorance of your company.

This is a wonderful piece, and you sound like a great brother. But — as someone who understands the power of certain words, and how they’re used, you should get this — I wish you hadn’t used the phrase “confined to a wheelchair” multiple times. My wheelchair doesn’t have straps or locks that keep me from moving;

Well said. It’s not about being PC. It’s purely about considering someone’s feelings.

I’m sorry, but short of a mechanic saying “the timing was retarded,” there’s no reason for those words in casual conversation, whether you’re talking about someone or not.

but I’m not going to jump down someone’s throat for using words like that in casual conversation.

My father is a retired police officer. The first time my mom ever saw my dad cry was 13 years into their marriage. He was the first officer on the scene of a murder-suicide; a father killed his 2yo daughter and then himself. My dad came home that day and she found him in their bedroom crying.

Not at all to imply that it’s a matter of such a simple solution to a sad and complex problem with multiple causes, but please do support parents in your community.

Honestly? If this could be mobilized nationally, it would save childrens’ and parents’ health and lives. I’m all for this. I’d be part of this too! So many more social services are necessary for kids and parents in this country. How could we do something like this? It’d be like Starbucks for Kid Care. And

prayers because at this point in time this community needs exactly that, we need prayer

If that's a real thing sign me up too. I have two friendly dogs and endless patience

I want to put a smiley face sign in my window that indicates me as a emergency, respite child care mom. You? Go take a shower by yourself. Walk through a quiet library. Me? I’ll feed your kid muffins and have them run in the back yard until they are too tired to sass.

Sari Koshetz of TSA released a statement alluding to the incident: “Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”
