In the UK (roughly) the same car is badged up as a VXR8, and from memory the old LS3 model was about £50k 5 years ago. To put that in perspective, the 2015 SS at $45k is just under £30k GBP. Ok so not cheap, but the value blows my mind.

Not sure I agree with what you’re saying. I seem to recall the figure is about 90% of people pass their test in the here in a manual car. There are very very few people who can’t drive a manual. And people don’t just ‘lose the ability’. Plenty of people choose to drive an auto though.
