You know what? I HAVE to believe (like almost literally, it’s crucial to my being able to continue to breathe) that HRC has more Trump bombshells to drop, but that they were being conservative, as usual, and would only Break Glass in Case of Emergency. Well, in light of this, now’s the time— drop ‘em, Hill.
Yeah, I’m kinda thinking the “October Surprise” is an anachronism? For full impact, it needs to be more of a “Late-August Surprise.”
Agreed. I am offended on behalf of my username.
This made me feel (a little bit) good, because I know my husband’s answer would not be immediately defensive. $100 that he would start out with a joke (because he always starts out with a joke), but then honestly try to answer it, using words like “misogyny.” About 90% sure my dad would also not get defensive. Sad…
Except when he forgets he’s not quite cheap enough to deny all of his employees health insurance, and uses them as political pawns anyway.
I just wanted to empathize. My slightly older kid has zero screen time (except for occasional grandparent Skype) for related reasons. Both my husband and I have ADHD, and I’m not as much worried that she’ll “catch” ADHD from screen time as that I will rely on screen time as a crutch (and use my newfound “free time”…
since Trump’s misogyny seems to have been one of the bigger turning points of the election having him go up against a strong, confident woman is kind of perfect
Needs to be posted again:
That is so well-said.
Amen.
I worry about this, too— but it does help that they (alt-right, Repubs, Trump) have been obviously trying to pin All The Things on Hillary/Bill and haven’t come close to succeeding. I’m not saying there’s no wrongdoing on the Clintons’ part— or at least the appearance of it. But they’ve been politicians a LONG time…
Alec Baldwin actually slipped some of this in his impression, to my delight.
I have been assuming that! I have to believe she has the best psychologists on staff. To paraphrase Frasier Crane (how apropos)— if there’s anything no one can best Hillary Rodham Clinton at— it’s homework!
I mean, I am not going to disagree by quibbling over apparent numbers or degrees of severity in the cases.
His actions are truly baffling to people who haven’t had to deal with NPD (or didn’t know there was a name and a “logic” to it). THAT’S BECAUSE THEY DEFY LOGIC. That’s the ENTIRE point of their actions— just think about how you would act if you didn’t understand the perspectives of others, in any way.
Oh, good, I can repost this comment:
Garden-variety Narcissists basically lack theory of mind (understanding that other people have perspectives different from theirs).
I have also heard this in the opposite direction (sources: friends who had boob reductions at <18). They can “grow back in” (meaning they would have been even bigger).
