Uh, because the cabins are made smaller by the extra crash protection, they have to make the whole thing bigger to even have the same room inside.
I don’t buy the bullshit that it’s for safety and such, because every manufacturer inevitably pops out a smaller car to fill in the spot occupied by the formerly small car.

Agree completely. The Integra Type-R was awesome and had subdued styling that I really liked (same for the older Civic - Sis). This car looks like a 16 year old went crazy at the tuner shop and tacked on as much plastic as possible. I still love the idea of the car, just not all of the ‘styling’ added to it.
To compare apples to apples, let’s look at the Civic Type-R concept D that we saw in 2015.
