I meant to add:  The current dating scene isn’t that much different from “Men cannot approach women without being given a signal.  Bumble and Tinder are essentially like that.  And women are increasingly less open to being approached offline.  And many men are too worried of coming across as creepy to approach women. 

Not all of the single men are players.  Many, perhaps more, are lonely men who could never get off the starting blocks due to ugliness or shyness.
