FFVII came out when I was 17, and being a teenager who lived a stone’s throw away from NYC, my adventures would often find me there at a time when the city was a bit seedier, a bit grittier, and still actually full of hidden fun and mischief to get into. I remember how much I loved comparing the weirdness of LES…
I liked wondering either way :). There was something really well done about that ending that regardless you could find something amazing about it, but being shoehorned into just one possibility eh...
I never understood why Cloud was so angsty and emo in Kingdom Hearts and the Dissidia games, but it makes sense in Advent Children. In Advent Children, he’s slowly dying from a mysterious incurable disease. If there was ever a reason to be mopey, that would be it. For some reason, they really ran with that personality…
The big issue with Advent Children is that without any prior knowledge of the source material the audience is left out in the cold because they don’t know what the Hell is going on at all. They don’t get the references, they don’t understand the characters emotional struggles and they don’t understand the villains…
Honestly the movie kind of ruined the ending of the Game for me. Part of what I loved about Final Fantasy VII was the ending kind of left itself for interpretation, did Holy wipe out mankind to save the planet? Did mankind abandon the Life Stream hungry life style and return to living with nature as the Centra did?…
Reading this line “I am a massive fan of Final Fantasy VII, but as a programmer for the festival, I don’t let my personal appreciations affect my judgement in recruiting/reviewing films,”and then this “...I wanted to convince myself that I wasn’t being objective, but I couldn’t escape the fact that this film is DAMN…
Hot Take Corner:
Same with me. The movie is mostly about a villain wanting his mom and fight scenes where the characters jump 50 ft up in the air. The whole bad guy becoming into Sephiroth makes no sense other than to briefly revive an overrated villain for fanservice.
Beats the last Star Fox game releasing on 9/11.
Yep, it can only be enjoyed when you’re blazed as fuck.
Releasing on 4/20?
The real question is, is this going to be the start of the Nintendo Cinematic Universe?
what’s funny is my parents got a cd-i it was through some store that sold appliances and furniture. I remember going there thinking wow this is the future. They had movies on cd’s before dvds came out and no one I knew had it so I thought it was so cool haha. I found out they had a mario game and zelda games and I was…
Konami As You: “I am the consumer. I don’t want to waste time sitting at home in front of the TV. Why bother when I can make my phone flash pretty colours and give me a little burst of endorphins every now and then? Way more efficient way to be entertained. Also I like to believe that marketing is meaningless…
Stick a bunch of VR Pachinko machines in there and Konami will love it.
I’m not sure how anyone thought this would see the light of day, TBH.
I knew a bunch of guys in high school that dressed like this and all they had to do was go to Hot Topic.
