@Witzbold: actually the designs shown in the article are extremely "pop" in style. The content of the image itself might reprepresent somewhat of a traditional design but i doubt anyone would actually get a hannya tattoo like in the pic because of the style.

@kywi: together with what others have mentioned already, Japanese style tattoos are known to be extremely painful and time consuming. @puffa469: you're probably thinking about fullbody tattoos that people commonly associate with yakuza's, but they are not exclusive and you will see many older people with tattoos like that during festivities (some are yakuza's but not all).

Interestingly enough, manga style textbooks really help you learn things better. Makes it more amusing, visually guiding, and a smooth read overall. Doraemon history book was simply awesome.

Asia = Tiger. How much more stereotypical can they get. Lemme predict that this will include characters with long mustache that talk like asian characters from 80's movies. I doubt the western entertainment industries are ever gonna get over these images that are stuck in their minds from decades ago.

I hope this article crushed the hopes for those self-proclaimed translators that fansub anime and manga thinking they are doing a good job. I had few occasions in which I skimmed through them to look at the quality of translations and many were simply horrible, both with their written English and Japanese…

@LucasReis: You're correct, his nationality is unknown. The Street Fighter II Complete File I got back in the early 90s even say the same thing. His headquarter is in Thailand, hence his stage is located there, but his nationality is unknown.
