@adamhunterpeck: As much as people laugh and ridicule Engrish seen in games, the amount of cultural misrepresentation in Western games are actually no better. I'm not saying its not funny, I'm saying we should all just sit back and laugh at eachother for the stupidity (more like a joke) seen in these games.

The article does a good job in mentioning that there probably and actually are an equal number of bad cosplayers in Japan as there is in the west, just being that what we normally see tend to be biased by the person taking the pictures.

@TVs_Frank: Actaully you can't always determine whether they are sponsored or not simply from the picture quality, as some cosplayers will rent photostudios by the hour or what not (solo, with friends) and will have professional quality photographs of their cosplays taken. Other times, they will rent studios to have

The Gundam robot is actually fully functional, they made it to prepare for alien invasion in 2012.

@jedidotflow: Not that I enjoy eroge or anything, but I fail to understand your logic. Murder is as sick as rape, and many games will allow you to do it. Why does being able to die in a game that allow you to kill others make it alright? If we follow this rule, then these rape games would be allowed if you can be

@mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta: Wow that was a pretty good article that actually looks into cultural differences in an interesting way, rather than just bashing one another like many do. Thanks for the link, and a very good post.

Although a great laugh, I thought Chou-aniki (超兄貴) would be a really obvious one.

@Danza: I grew up in the "30-40 minute a day restriction" generation and surprisingly enough, it allows a lot more than one could imagine, at least with old games.

@AnnihilatorX: Don't worry no offense was taken, and I wasn't trying to be a dick or anything just in case. I just often see many people misunderstanding the terminology and often using it as a discriminatory term to describe a certain group of people, and felt the need to remove this misconception people have.

@AnnihilatorX: Thanks, I'm Japanese and I happen to know my language. The original usage of the word was to refer to another person, and/or their household/group. The meaning spread over time as a slang terminology and is no longer limited to describing people of those hobbies that you mentioned. The word is merely a

@AnnihilatorX: It's true that there are probably more anime/game otaku's in Japan; however, the use is not limited to them, the mass media in Japan stereotyped it and misrepresented the term by showing the more extreme type that you typically imagine when you hear the term being used. In reality, there are soccer

@Creasy: There are various forms of fetishism around the world that others find difficult to understand. Some may like animals, whereas others may like to dress up as one. It's not something that is limited to a race, it's a personal preference.

@AnnihilatorX: There are various types of otaku's. As the article brings up, the definition is not limited to the stereotypical anime/comic/game hardcore enthusiasts. Trekkies are pretty much a "Star Trek otaku" and we all know that there are various types of Trekkies. Some will decorate their rooms look like the

@badasscat: The past FF series made you: Start from point A, go to point B, now return to point A, then go to point C, and then a repeat of that. There was a lot of going back and forth, whereas this map makes it look like it removed the need to "return to previous point" perhaps to make the game flow faster and

Just when I mentioned that this was coming yesterday...

@jslizzle: Megaman 1-3 IMO were the hardest of the series in the sense that the controls were somewhat unfriendly (early games NES console, can't complain). After the sliding in 3, 4 introduced charged shots, which expanded the game play. 5 and 6 were not too different from 4 other than the fact that it was easier IMO.

@syafiqjabar of Mars: back in FFVIII it took less than a day for players to discover that you can rotate and get upskirt shots of characters when using libra. I'm sure it's all coming in no time.

@Bokusatsu_Tenshi: Agreed. Even just looking at their previous MMO FFXI, it simply had a narrow range of players, whereas WoW manages to reach out to a wide range of audiences, like it or not including immature kids.

"Lots of unnecessary things are being sold here."

@Leanid: wow, great comment. Probably one of the most intelligent one for this article. I guess most people here aren't even aware that NES was called "famicom" (Family-Computer) in Japan for a reason.
