GM received what, $50b or so in the bailout? They have already paid back just about half of that in cash two years ago. They haven't repaid the rest as the price of the stock has not risen high enough for the government to sell the shares yet.

75-80 is just about 15 minutes away from me. I was sad when they closed down but now they are back open I got to get over there more. Maryland FTW!

No offense taken, just having a discussion is all ;)

In the U.S.? I have seen, on a consistant basis, semi's with and without trailers, brand new and old, doing anywhere from 5 over to 85-90 on the road. It is not like it was just the old ones that were speeding but brand new Volvos and Kenworths.

I guess I never thought that there was one because I have never seen anyone follow it.

Why? Is there a law against driving too fast with a trailer?

Have you driven both? Have you taken both around a track? If you haven't I'm not sure that you can say all that objectively. Until you do all you are doing is looking at the good aspects of one and not giving the other credit for what it is supposed to be.

Regardless of what it was made for, does it really need that much torque or hp? NO. But it is nice to have. The price for this kind of power is ridiculous. This might just be a drag car but it is not like the company is pushing it as a long distance GT car. They are stating publicly that this is meant to stomp

Or imagine the Boss you could have for even less and, if you were a skilled driver, it would be even faster around the track than an M3. And then you could have more left over for strippers and booze.

What about all the V12 Mercs? Do they ever get tracked? The point of the car is not to make sense. It was seriously to see what they could do with the car from the factory according to Shelby's wishes. That is all.

Why don't you make like a tree and get the fuck out?

Yeah, I did some more reading and realized I was wrong.

I'd then have to HHHNNNNNNNNGGGGG.....

From what I heard, and I might be wrong, the engine is extremely modified from the production version. When I said they built an engine from scratch I didn't mean that they cast or machined the block themselves, I should have been more clear.

I agree, I just think it is funny that everyone is salivating over the Venom GT but when the guy says he can beat the fastest car in the world in that category, they all go and beat up on the guy. It seems that the masses can be for or against someone/thing one day and then reverse their feelings the next.

No but he did stretch and widen the chassis/body panels, build the engine from scratch and tune everything. That is a bit more than just chipping and tuning an A4.

I was about to HNNNNNNG...

I understand it is a free market but is there really a problem with complaining when every carrier is basically working together to keep prices high? Yes, I understand it is a luxury and all that but it is something that a majority of the people have in this country and anyone with a texting plan is essentially

More like a two-year-at-a-time prison sentence. Don't try to defend the phone companies, they more than make up for whatever profits they lose from unlimited data users with the crazy amounts they charge for texting plans.

So? If you did have them and then they changed their rules to no longer allow you to keep unlimited data when you upgrade to LTE, then you would be pissed too.
