I really hope the woman's family sues the hell out of that police department for criminal negligence.

The profession attracts the most sexist, racist and insecure men in society. Of course, there are exceptions, but if you're in midst of them, you really find out they're incredibly similar to each other.

True. I think the police should have informed her that he had quit. That question is asked on LAP screenings so it's not like they don't know it's a sign.

Also keep in mind that reporting incidents often enrages attackers/abusers/stalkers. So when people DO report, it can often put them in more danger. Le sigh. This cycle is so frustrating and sad.

That's legitimately terrifying to consider. I remember years ago reading an article about a cop in PA who was brought up on charges after using the database to track down the location of a woman he had recently ticketed for speeding, so he could leave a note on her car asking her out. I think he only got in trouble…

Valerie Morrow did everything "right", and still she is dead on the streets. This is why people don't report, this is why people don't trust cops. Also as soon as he resigned, someone should have contacted Ms. Marrow because actions like that indicate a state of mind which is deadly.

It's not just a complete failure that he was getting a paycheck as a cop. The computer background information he'd have access to in order to facilitate stalking is possibly a bigger deal. Also, if he was assigned to the street, he could've been stalking while on the clock. Not every city enforces gps accountability…
