TIL: Only white guys work in Detroit. The victimization and SJW of Gawker/Jalopnik continues. Plenty of hard working people of color all along this nation. This article is just another pro-corporate/globalization effort.

Fun fact: there are 2.1 million family owned farms in America.
“So I guess people don’t want electric cars, they just want Teslas”
This defies logic on so many levels, I’m not sure where to start. A long-established, can’t be killed major manufacturer sells a car that can be purchased and serviced (theoretically) in every small town or major city all across North America.
So I guess people don’t want electric cars, they just want Teslas. But seriously i’m surprised this isn’t selling better. Maybe if they raise it 2 inches and put some ugly plastic cladding in it.......
Wasn’t the H2 on the same exact chassis as the Suburban and Silverado?
...to be honest, what exactly is it offering at this point that the Chevy Bolt doesn’t also have?
No it’s not. CAPEX does not show up on the P/L sheet because it becomes assists (sure depreciation but that is not an issue here). They lose money selling cars and that is before a dollar is spent on R&D. They have not met their CAPEX guidance for the last 5 quarters and I feel safe in saying they will miss it yet…
Ownership of the means of production. Do you even Karl Marx, comrade?
What’s interesting about the Chobani example is that Hamdi gave his employees shares of the company. If only more owners were willing to share in the profits, but that is often perceived as socialist (thus bad).
“Capitalism, a bankrupt economic ideology which rests on the notion that the outright theft of the product of others’ labor is morally right and just, has produced a car company called Porsche, which makes cars primarily for those who benefit most from that ideology.”
Mr. Ballaban, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent blog were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone here is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on…
Oh I’m sorry. What is the specific dollar value where it’s OK to torch someone’s car?
I’m assuming what he’s going through is a realization of how selfish he is.
What can you be going through that you like to see others property destroyed for no reason other than they are offended because someone makes more money than them?
> Tesla sold almost 50,000 - $100,000 vehicles in the first half of the year
Well then, my respect for Gawker’s journalistic credibility just went up exponentially! 0^1 = 0
Because Tesla was (and still is) stupidly overpriced because of speculators convinced that Tesla will completely dominate the industry. That they’re still a higher market cap than Ford is... quite silly.
Just to emphasize:
Tesla is acknowledging that they are likely going to miss major 2017 production targets that they set themselves by 80% or worse, on a durable luxury good that sits somewhere between a smartphone and a traditional car for the majority of its audience. This has been the biggest driver of the negative…
Who cares? A company’s stock price bears little relevance to anything real. Since the market only cares about infinite growth (which is impossible), we should only pay attention to what companies actually do - not what ‘experts’ think they should do.
