I'm not saying it's either/or, but that it is trivial.
So...anyone want to talk about natural medicine a little? Because I'm interested.
I know—I've already posted. But I find the outrage over this minor incident absurd.
Black Friday items are limited because they are loss leaders, whereas the clothing lines from designers are not. I agree that if this kind of thing happened all the time, it would be in Target's best interest to limit sales. I don't think it does happen a lot...hence the news story.
I can imagine a designer writing something into the contract, though clearly Wu did not.
"Just because anyone can do something doesn't make it not morally wrong"—I already said this exact thing myself upthread. We just disagree on the ethics here, that's all.
OK, I didn't really get what you were saying before, and I do now. I'm sorry.
I used to work for Target Corp. They were fairly obsessed with moving shoppers through the checkout lanes quickly...they would figure out how to shave tenths of a second off of the average times. I don't know if that's still the case, but it could be a factor (and obviously it's not a factor on the site.) Also,…
I need to get back into my thrift store habit! You're inspiring me!
Ah, thousands of U.S. households are supported by this kind of endeavor, though. More often, it's ebay sellers scooping up items right when they go super super on sale, which takes a lot of vigilance, and then re-selling for a profit.
I'm going to recommend that you take a little more time to try to understand that previous comment about "normatively sized" and figure out why someone would have felt that way.
I've been looking at some made to measure options on Etsy (and even there you have to be careful; there are some groups on there that are not really selling ethically produced clothing, though they claim to!) It is very expensive, of course, and I keep putting off having things made because I think maybe I'll lose a…
Good heavens, no. Arrested on what charge?
Oh, sure, absolutely! That's all part of business, too. As I say, Target might decide this isn't a good situation for them, though they would probably only decide that if behavior like this were widespread. A few incidents here and there, and it wouldn't be worth the effort and expense to explain and enforce limits,…
I knew everyone wouldn't agree with me on this one, obviously. I just think they are capitalists, period.
Of course, things can be legal and still morally wrong, but I don't think they did anything morally wrong. Anyone else could have made sure s/he got in line first, and could have chosen to buy the entire line, if s/he wanted to. These two were the only ones who wanted to buy all of it, so it seems only fair that they…
Assuming they didn't push or shove anybody, I don't think the couple did anything wrong. They are merchants, buying up something they believe they can sell at a higher price. That's what merchants do. We're just not very used to it playing out at a local retail store.
ooh! Very exciting!! Sorry about the flight fear...that has to be a bitch. As you say, trains are quite romantic, though!
