Well, it's supposed to be an adaptation. If the jokes are taken directly from the book and they are lame, then the TV writers really need to put some effort into improving that. I don't buy the excuse 'they are supposed to be lame'. There is no reason why they can't be funny (actually I got a laugh at least one time

Yes that's it, the story has been done before. It needs the characters to really shine but so far they fall flat. There is good chemistry between Hap and Leonard its just the dialogue can be grating and the jokes/one liners are lame. I could see a second season working with a better premise, more action and

I agree on the problems surrounding the opening of the boxes. It was needlessly drawn out, the Hap/Leonard/Trudy interaction was pointless and the 'twist' was predictable. That being said I got the impression that it was the fact that one box of cash was ruined that caused them to betray Hap and Leonard rather than it

Given some of the schlock they stick with it is a strange omission.

I didn't know that! He is excellent in this. He has the perfect amount of menace and guile. But really there are powerful performances from all the cast.

They are all going to quit their day jobs and co-run the bar while living together? Jess gets back with Nick? Winston and Alie get together and Alie moves in? and they all live happily every after?

I hope it's more complicated than that cos that would be simplistic and cliched which this show is avoiding so far.

I don't get why people keep thinking Kim is going to be killed? It would make no sense within the story they are telling and seems to be based on nothing but people not being able to imagine a dramatic relationship altering event that isn't a violent death…

I always thought that Black Sails theme was perfect but seeing it actually played 'live' just underlines how great it is. McCreary is an amazing musician.

This was a good episode. It was clearly stalling for time but it still accomplished some good characterisation. Carol is by far the most compelling character so a whole episode of her is always going to be a good thing. I thought they could have revealed more about the Saviours instead of clearly trying to throw

that's your problem not the shows…

You pretty much just made the point I was making? All that stuff was rushed. The Ice Queen's move for power at the meeting where SkaiKru reveals it is now the 13th Clan was ludicrously rushed and contrived. My point is that Lexa's arc was as problematic as Bellamy's, it was rushed, contrived and all the more so as it

great stuff. Even with some of the flaws this season it's still one of the best things on TV

fyi people were saying the same about Murphy…

cos there is only a blockade this time and Kane prob believes rightly or wrongly he can rescue the situation. plus Kane has grown as a character in a way others might not yet.

every aspect of it was rushed if not outright contrved, the ice queen, her sons intro, the ice queens move for power, Clarke and lexa. it was all ignored cos a large part of the audience is in love with Lexa and they were getting what they wanted, which is fair enough. With Bellamy it's the opposite they are not

Of course the really great thing is that its all linked: Bellamy/Pike contrasts and reflects Jaha/Alie. Loyalty/trust/remembering/forgetting/pain/forgiveness/leadership are all mixed up in a great swirling plot. it's a pity reviewers don't pick up on these themes instead of choosing to bitch about Bellamy's arc for

but all those criticisms can be directed at every facet of the show in the first 7 episodes. Some of the Lexa stuff was horribly contrived. But it's only the Bellamy aspect that gets picked on. Largely because people can't see the woods for the trees.

I agree the problem is the reviewer has been making a category error. He keeps mistaking a legitimate narrative choice with bad or poor writing because he does not like this choice. That is basically the AV Club's modus operandi.

The whole point is that no one size fits all policy is appropriate and that at different times and different scenarios will require different solutions and actions.
