The thing about this season over season 1 and even LOST is that he is basically just trolling now. In that interview you posted up thread, which I only read now, he actually admits that there is no point to half the shit they include other than to get the audience to read a meaning into it and effectively do

It's Lindelof trolling you, it's literally all he is doing in this show.

I'm dumbfounded, thats epic.

Lindelof trolling the audience week 2: MIT guys with a terrible, terrible explanation for the 'sudden departure'.

Amen! but this season he is not even pretending to write a show. He is clearly actively trolling the audience which I think is bad form tbh.

They are actually playing it good so far. He is borderline stalker and she is clearly creeped out. If they keep that up and she ultimately rejects him I will be happy. however, I have a feeling she will give in and a romance will ensue. This will also be the catalyst for him not becoming Reclaimer Joe/Governator 3.0.

Yes I agree. The plan wasn't perfect but the writers went out of their way to show that they knew this. Once they do that you have to cut them some slack. They included doubts and alternative plans, they showed the decision making process. They then cleverly preempted much of this nitpicking by showing that regardless

I think Morgan was actually scrutinizing Carol. his 'were you a cop' questioning pretty much showed he knows Carol is not who she is portraying herself as. Morgan is being set up as 'the voice of reason' who will bring Rick back from his worst instincts (to give into the zombie apocalypse & go full Darwin Col Kurtz)

Yes this is the case, it's why I like the shows (spinoff tried the same but individually compared with the parents collective examination. obvs the individual version turned out a bit clumsy). So with that in mind, it is imperative that people understand the different organising principles of each group. Rick's group

Yes that would make sense. i cant get subs and I'm damned if i'm that invested to go seek them out/rewatch (ha!) but cheers for your reply!

Rick et al. are not darwinians. Rick has been creeping towards that over
the last season. but as has been shown this is bringing him into
conflict with Michonne, Daryl and now also Morgan (who no doubt is being
set up to to help Rick see the light) its also adversely affecting Abraham, Sasha. The only one fully on

'I'm sure some people also enjoyed the holocaust' but its not much of an argument is it? The amount of debate policing here is unreal.

Some random thoughts cos I'm already tired of this show:

but we've been shown that thats not the case. The town is a national park. It's selective about who gets to stay there. (the Murphy's are surprised that such out of towner folk like the Garvey's manage to buy there) If someone is a shyster or exploiting the towns reputation they get their house burned down and told to

ok fair enough but here is the problem I'm highlighting. If its allegorical thats ok. Allegory is one of the basic building blocks of good story telling for almost as long as people have told stories. However, if something is merely suggestive that implies that you are being prompted to create the meaning. This

Thats a very defensive post which tells me two things: 1) you might actually be Lindelof :) 2) I'm probably more right than you want to believe.

You are naive to assume I believe there should be only one interpretation let alone some kind of 'official' one or that I need to be spoon fed anything. I don't. but as I said in another comment: This isn't 'Death of the Author' but death of actual storytelling. There is a vague story of course; this is more refined

that's all well and good. But what was the journey on LOST? Go back and watch the first season and how does that matter in anyway with the end season. You can't justify it without resort to vague metaphorical or allegorical references. With LOST there ultimately was no journey You were strung along with purposely

Lindelof is to master story telling what reality TV is to reality. See my other comments above/below. Lindelof is not hesitant to mess your expectations because that gimmick is all he has…

Yes I was the same. This is Lindelof's shtick and it is terrible . I only watched the first season cos it was based on a book and I thought that at least it would have to have some kind of resolution. I actually liked some of the characters on LOST but this show i don't like any. Kevin is dreadful and the rest of his
