And that’s become the biggest thing the NFL has to worry about. The excitement and quick pace is what took people from baseball and landed them firmly in football watching fandom. Now there are too many commercials and it takes too long in between plays

I would argue it helps. If I see a crazy highlight on twitter, I’m much more likely to try to find that game and see what else happens

That has a lot to do with the prevalence of fantasy football and the fact that the NFL has watered down the football with so many commercial breaks and offenses trying to be clever and take all day on pre-snap  reads. Football games have gotten as long as baseball games, and that’s the major problem

I mean maybe, but it’s from the team’s twitter accounts and not just some random dude. You end up taking another PR hit all the while not gaining anything. The NFL’s twitter page still does highlight gifs and vines and the likes, so it ends up looking ridiculous
