The boomers are a huge generation, too, so we’re bound to feel like it’s “more” because, by sheer number overall, it will be. Gen X is comparatively very small, but the millennials outnumber even the boomers.

My other set of grandparents are getting close to 100 and my grandfather complains about being old non stop it’s kind of adorable.
There is also something to be said for remember that people who really love you don’t want you to follow them to death right away, that they want you to have a life and love and all that fun stuff. When my best friend died (like a sister because she is the very first memory I have), I kept reminding myself that she…
Our Grandpa died shortly after our family’s big 75th wedding anniversary celebration, and we figured Grandma would follow him soon after, as he was the object of all her attention and service for most of her life. Turns out, she lasted for 10 more years, dying at 100 (much to her disdain - “Ugh ... I didn’t think I’d…
My grandparents were like that. They were together over 50 years and my grandfather died somewhat unexpectedly, and my grandmother was gone less than a week later. I was only in fourth grade at the time but damn do I miss them and wish they could have watched me grow up.
I am so, so sorry for your loss, DWTS. I sincerely wish that your mom will pull through.
My friend’s stepmother died and then her father died a month or two later. She says he was just too heartbroken. Then she asked about my grandparents. My grandma died, but my grandfather lived for several years after. She seems to believe this means my grandparents were not as much in love as her stepmom and dad. I…
We were all really worried that that would happen with my dad’s parents. My grandmom got sick and when we realized it was the end, we were scared that my grandfather would go within days. He didn’t - he lived another six years, visited her grave almost daily. But it was a real fear.
I’m really sorry about your dad. I hope your mom gets better.
Also, it helps put things in perspective a bit when you go through this data and read that five million kids a year die, on a global scale. Of course this is unsurprising, given the global situation/war/poverty, etc., but it still gives a much broader view of things than just focusing on celeb deaths, etc.
I am sorry for your loss. You and your mom will be in my thoughts.
“Love Bird Syndrome” is what my grandfather’s nurse called it. My grandmother passed..he followed two weeks later
My wife is convinced it’s election result related stress.
Yea my parents were born in 59 and 61, and I’ve started calling them more often to hear their voices.
Some people seem to have just discovered the reality of death this year. It’s OK, they’ll get used to it.
Oh god that sounds just awful.
WWII is what happened. This is the boomer generation. They’ve hit the age where they’re dying off now.
This reminds me of how one set of grandparents went, my grandfather died at 90 then within 3 days my grandmother went as well she just couldn’t take the grief.
I didn’t even know he had a band.
I’ve got some shit to say about Ryan Gosling.
