So it really hasn’t been talked about, mainly because of the fan based uproar that would come of it, but he made a cameo in Star Wars 9. You can briefly see him with the rebels. They also added the Enterprise E as well as Galaxy Quest’s the Defender to the large space ship scene near the end...
