I had a golf ball sized lump on my sternum once that turned out to be ingrown hair(s) - it was so long and coiled onto itself that I could have made a sizeable ring out of it. It wouldn’t budge for weeks, then the whole thing came out in 1 piece, and made a very audible “crack” when it emerged. Bled like a mofo, too...
