Wallowing in low tiers only matters to competitive players. The vast majority of people who play the game are not doing it in any way competitively.

That probably is part of it. Although a lot of big movie stars do not really “do” social media, which I also think is part of the problem. The sort of ivory tower celebrities of the past who want their privacy and live in their own world are losing out to the newer “share everything” celebrities of today. Will Smith

One pretty simple reason for dropping viewership is that it’s on TV. Stream it live an internationally on services people actually use (Netflix, Twitch, YouTube etc) and maybe the kids will actually watch some of it. Make it international and it will do even better.

He also would have gotten the same backlash though if he made the movie about a small-town Missouri police station WITHOUT any mention of the idea of racism in the police force.

Or like characters can have conclusions that are neither being venerated as noble and lovable heroes or getting the righteous justice of being curb stomped to death for their misdeeds.

It is a pretty tiresome part of the left-wing blogosphere that films like this one are treated more or less the same as if they had just been white supremacist propaganda. This is kind of why we were unable to deal with Trump too. When you use up all of your most severe labels and warnings on a Mitt Romney, you end up

Wow, never thought I’d wish I lived in Detroit.

Maybe he left up “cunt” because it’s not a slur, it’s just a general purpose swear word.

That take is very, very hot.

Not really though, because the one with the least “1" ratings is removed instantly and so on, so the least loved ones are culled pretty fast.

It would be cool if anyone could do this. I have no idea where to see most of these things, and you’d think that in today’s world it would be easier than ever to make these accessible. Even just put them up on Netflix as a series or something.

I honestly just wish they all had the same time. The time allotted seems to be proportional to how famous the winners of the award usually are.

I’d say Get Out is middle of the pack in terms of likeliness. “Conventional wisdom” is a few years out of date by now. The least likely ones are now the ones that look most like something you’d see in a parody of an “Oscar movie” (Darkest Hour, The Post, Phantom Thread). They ain’t winning shit in awards season

We’re not making that mistake again.

Darkest Hour is about the absolute least likely to actually win for Best Picture.

Well they can’t do both of those things.

Looking forward to seeing Dave Chappelle present something.
