Unfortunately people who choose to take their lives (or threaten to do so) frequently pick public places. When I was in San Jose, the 101 or 280 would be shut down for several hours about every three or four months because someone was threatening to jump off the overpass. In Portland, just yesterday, they closed 26

Wouldn’t be very hard to just throw up a temporary barrier around the deceased so people can’t see what’s happening.

These are also the same ‘journalists’ that publish four articles a day about Jeep (built by the same company that owns Alfa) but you never hear a peep about reliability.

I use them to get into big trucks or high SUVs, my mom uses hers to get into her car. I think they’re actually most useful when the car is stationary.

There’s also the ego/power grab motive. Look at North Korea, Russia, and back to the USSR. Those had very little to do with religion and everything to do with infantile politicians posturing and having dick-measuring contests.

For the life of me I don’t know why they didn’t just use the interior from an S60. That’s already one of the best on the market; why does electric car mean ‘remove everything, replace with giant iPad

That entire abomination makes me want to barf

Curious to know how Fica Frio knew it was a fake - it seems like they figured it out pretty quick. I’m surprised the cars weren’t re-appraised during the auction process (or just before, by Seinfeld, to help confirm their value).

Why didn’t they just back the train up? Eugene is only 47 miles from Oakridge. I understand long-haul Amtrak’s usually aren’t designed for push-pull, but you’d imagine their locomotives could at least move backwards for positioning reasons.

Portland to Seattle is relatively safe and uneventful (ignoring the derailment a few months ago). From Eugene going South, the train then goes up and over the Cascades. Oakridge is about halfway between Eugene and the next stop.

My 2.5 seat hybrid sports car with butterfly doors and a carbon fiber chassis doesn’t take potholes well? Well, I’ll be!

For $150k it’s a ridiculously overpriced POS. However, it IS a beautiful car and it represents BMW’s foray into the electric scene. It’s possible in 10 years it’ll hold value, especially considering they’ve sold less than 6k in five years. Or, you know, it won’t.

Range isn’t the issue

No you’re right, that’s the point I was trying to make. Car manufacturers offer one statistic - cargo space. But that can vary drastically based on roof height; a cargo space with a 2x2 footprint that’s 6' tall isn’t very useful. Crossovers can be incredibly deceiving in this statistic.

I searched high and low for compiled reliability stats when searching for the wife and I’s new cars this past year and I never found anything I trusted. So we bought a Volvo and an Alfa. I’ll let you know how it goes!

The nice thing about Alfa is nobody’s buying them, so loaners are a-plenty! I actually got a nicer trim when I dropped mine off for service (the downside is if things change, I might end up in a Fiat 500)

What’s truly crazy, however, is that because the T-Roc is taller, it actually has more cargo space, despite being an inch shorter. More useful than overall length is length from the back of the front or rear seats to the bumper - VW actually provides a lot of useful measurements on their website, and it’s pretty

Hopefully it doesn’t cost as much as a Cayenne, a la the price difference between a ‘base’ Panamera and the Panamera PHEV ($20k jump). I’d love an electric crossover, but I’m not going to pay twice as much for it (I’m looking at you, Jaguar)

Yeah, a coming recession or correction shouldn’t affect gas prices - prices actually dropped in ‘09 after the great recession in ‘08. If there is a recession, people will stop buying big cars simply because they’re expensive and consume more gas, regardless of price. OPEC is kind of a shit show though, so who knows.

Treating your car like shit doesn’t make you a hero, no matter how expensive the car is. Someone like Rowan Atkinson, who daily drove his McLaren F1, is a hero. Your disgusting neighbor who eats in his car, never cleans it and transports tires in the front seat is just a slob. Believe it or not, it’s possible to both
