I searched high and low for compiled reliability stats when searching for the wife and I’s new cars this past year and I never found anything I trusted. So we bought a Volvo and an Alfa. I’ll let you know how it goes!

The nice thing about Alfa is nobody’s buying them, so loaners are a-plenty! I actually got a nicer trim when I dropped mine off for service (the downside is if things change, I might end up in a Fiat 500)

What’s truly crazy, however, is that because the T-Roc is taller, it actually has more cargo space, despite being an inch shorter. More useful than overall length is length from the back of the front or rear seats to the bumper - VW actually provides a lot of useful measurements on their website, and it’s pretty

Hopefully it doesn’t cost as much as a Cayenne, a la the price difference between a ‘base’ Panamera and the Panamera PHEV ($20k jump). I’d love an electric crossover, but I’m not going to pay twice as much for it (I’m looking at you, Jaguar)

Yeah, a coming recession or correction shouldn’t affect gas prices - prices actually dropped in ‘09 after the great recession in ‘08. If there is a recession, people will stop buying big cars simply because they’re expensive and consume more gas, regardless of price. OPEC is kind of a shit show though, so who knows.

Treating your car like shit doesn’t make you a hero, no matter how expensive the car is. Someone like Rowan Atkinson, who daily drove his McLaren F1, is a hero. Your disgusting neighbor who eats in his car, never cleans it and transports tires in the front seat is just a slob. Believe it or not, it’s possible to both

I’m assuming the brake by wire is standard across the XC90, and not just unique to the Hybrid? I hope it’s better than Alfa’s, which are grabby and ridiculously sensitive. You’d think that BBW would allow for personal adjustment much like steering. But noooo, that would be too smart...

All I see is rust. There is no ‘cutting it out’ only ‘throwing it away.’

Legacy carmakers have dozens of models, Tesla has 3. Tesla has more at risk by getting a bad report; if Chevy releases a shit car, they just shrug and stop making it.

I actually looked for a used WRX before I settled on my new car and everything decent was $15k. I always wanted a hawkeye wagon or hatchback but couldn’t afford it ten years ago. I was actually surprised how well they hold value (or how overpriced they are?)

What is this obsession with hauling full sheets of plywood, flat and with the tailgate up? Any pickup can and will haul a sheet of plywood in some configuration, especially if you have a few good tie downs. Home Depot will also cut it for free and drywall comes in smaller sheets, if you need it. Shit, my wife and I

When I was in High School a guy I knew kept referring to someone’s car as a POS. I thought it was some kind of trim, like Z06 or ZROC, but the car was absolutely garbage. I finally asked him and he enlightened me to ‘piece of shit’

I mean, if I arbitrarily select data that fits my hypothesis I can also further prove I’m right.

Breakfast at the hotel was just continental.

..with a full tank of gas in both of them, the convertible is 105 pounds heavier.

In 2017 the US was at 1.16 deaths per 100 million vehicle miles. An F1 race is a minimum of 190 miles, there are 21 races a year and 20 drivers. So that’s 79,800 miles driven per year in races; if you figure another 200 miles per race in qualifying, practice laps, etc. that’s 163,800 miles per year. F1 would have to

Oh please baby Jesus let it be a long roof Giulia

Meh, they already have the 4C and an AR badged 124 would just further undercut their 4C sales, especially since they won’t be offering the hard top version anymore.

Yeah I’m with you. I’ve owned two manuals over 14 years of driving, now own an automatic and I’m not finding that I suddenly have extra free time or attention. Drivers will drive distracted regardless of the car they’re in; by that token, you could argue that manuals are more dangerous, because if you’re going to text
