Oh man, thanks for this story. Your mother sounds lovely, and Chester sounds like all class.

I've never even regularly worn nail polish until this fall. Now I can't stop.

Deffo don't feel these comments are particularly 'over-sensitive.' Personally, I think this sex worker seems like an awesome lady, not just because she has sex with people with disabilities, but because she seems to be really chill and compassionate. But just reading the headline and not watching any of the video?

She's totally cultivating and working that look.

I was wondering how she was doing!

Thanks for this comment.

I know she's said and written some extremely problematic things, but she was such an influence on my younger self. She was also an amazing trailblazer — first woman to win a Hugo for fiction, first woman to win a Nebula. I'm so saddened by her passing.

No, but she did order in university police, who are (obviously) not trained in de-escalation tactics needed in this situation.

This was actually the weirdest part of the video to me. Where did he come from? Why are they touching?

This video is just so disappointing — I love the song. But this video. After I saw it, I thought to myself, 'I really hope there's a post on Jezebel about how racist this is.'

The block measure is supposed to be used if whatever action is taken will lead to that member to leave the group and not return. It really have nothing to do with the American political system and I'm not sure why you think the OWS people would assume the model that works for their particular space would be one that

Wow. This is a great story.

It's really great for you to totally dismiss actual racism in the OWS movement. You sound like a great ally!

DC is approx. 50% black

There's no voting in the consensus model — everyone has an equal block vote, & that will end a measure regardless of everyone else agreeing to it.

Actually, this isn't true at all about how occupy meetings are run. Facilitators are meant to deliberately make sure that minorities' and women's voices are prioritized when speaking at the General Assembly, so the conversation isn't dominated by white male voices. At least this was the explicit case in the DC

If it's a social justice movement that doesn't consider race issues, due in part because of the high numbers of white participants (who may be acting out of ignorance of the nature of the interconnectedness of race and economic injustice), then it becomes an issue of privilege. So, yes, that would be a big problem.

My Christmas shopping has come to an end.

There are plenty of versions of the Snow White story, and uh your assumption that everyone in Europe was white in what, the 1850s? when the Brothers Grimm wrote everything down makes no sense to me. Where there no Moors or Africans or Indians or Arabs in European population centers at the time?
