it’s not a direct comparison, but I’ve only used a taxi and Uber once.
According to my friends in Chihuahua who have used both, Uber is a little more than 1/2 the cost. This is especially true when comparing to the taxis based out of the airport. The transit police are a little annoyed with Uber as well since they aren’t catching as many drunks.
I have actually seen all them on the several times that I’m in México each year to visit friends or for work. It’s a mix of old and new depending on the location. The car dealerships don’t appear that they are hurting for business.
And now Uber is moving in, so customers can ride around in better cardboard for less. The taxi companies are pissed.

Yeah, especially all those cars made by Renault, Peugeot, Seat or all those car based pickups, Toyota Hiluxes, VW Amaroks & CrossFoxes, etc. Mexican car thieves are so good, those vehicles were stolen from the US before they even got to the dealer lots.
