Cops (and anyone else who has taken a CCW permit class) are trained to shoot at the center of mass until the threat is stopped. No properly trained officer ever tries to shoot someone in the leg or arm “to try to stop them”. If that ever happens it is likely an accident/poor aim.

When I drive to my mom’s house 4-5 times a year, I stop about every 400 miles (it’s a 900 mile trip). Stopping every 200 miles for a 30+ minute charge that EV proponents think is acceptable would make a long day even worse or make it a 2 day trip, which means I’d have to use more vacation time.
