Thanks for a great article. I bought a 2016 Subaru Legacy Limited and the only place I found the octane recommendation was in the owner manual, and it indicates to use the middle grade (depends on altitude I think, usually 89 here in CO). I’ve been dropping ‘the cheap stuff’ 87 octane into it because to me the 2.5L

This (and Google) is how they generate revenue - they’re basically over-glorified advertisement platforms. Makes perfect sense to me WHY they would do it.

Appraisals don’t mean squat. It’s just an additional layer of regulation from the fallout of the savings and loan scandal in the 1980s. Your appraisal is about as valuable as your county assessor’s ‘best guess’ on your perceived equity for generating your property tax. Anyone who buys a home thinking the appraisal is

13). Understand the difference between “buying” a home, and “mortgaging” a home, because when you say “buying” a home, it makes it sound like you actually bought it, when in fact you didn’t.

Good article.

AllVowels, I’m about 15 years past you, and I can honestly say that most of what you’re observing in the other people is completely fake anyway, especially if your observations are coming from Facebook or other social media. They’re struggling too, you’re just not in the loop. Allow me to try to spin some positivity

Good luck, man. Find a way through it. You owe it to yourself. Read my post above - things can get real nasty if you wait too long. There’s always a way to side-step those issues. Always.

Patrick,

That’s what I thought too!

Thorin, even more irritating is that Office Lens doesn’t TELL YOU that it needs your MS account to do pdf. The app just quits when you try to save a Lens photo, hence all the bad reviews on the Play Store. You have to figure this out on your own. Complete horse crap.

I do PC gaming mostly because I enjoy building/maintaining a PC. I know it needs to be upgraded, doesn’t have all the games, and becomes obsolete rather quickly. It’s a fun hobby, gaming is part (but not all) of the reason.

Exactly what borginblots said. I use a 42" TV - good enough for me at 10' away, so why would I ever need 4K? It makes no difference to my eyes.

Hopefully my post is read and approved for others to glean from:

thinkmethods, I think you CAN go a la carte if you put some work into it. I posted it elsewhere, but in terms of movies and TV shows, Netflix streaming + Netflix DVD is pretty much a universal solution to movies and TV shows, for $24/month combined. The only thing that ever rubs me wrong is if something is only

I’m with Matt. With some homework, anyone can find out that you sort of can pick and choose your viewing sources, buffet style. Also, most people overlook Netflix’s DVD service (remember that?), which I recently re-started in addition to the streaming service, and I have found to be a super cheap way to watch a lot of

Absolutely! Cutting the cord has become so easy now I’m aghast that more people don’t do it. I pay $50/month for internet (pretty fast, too), and add Netflix and Amazon Prime to it, and that’s pretty much all I need, with the occasional Redbox rental for new releases, which is about $2/night for a BR disc. As far as

Well said. The Starbuck’s latte could be viewed as the euphemism (or symbol) for all frivolous minor expenditures that add up to a lot over time.

I think the single most horrible thing a person can do to ruin their financial situation is to have children. As “wonderful” as they are, it makes almost NO SENSE within or below the upper-middle class.

How does one *literally* ruin productivity?
