its good to have a reliable backup to the extra spare you have for the occasion that your primary, your secondary, your tertiary, and all of their respective spares and redundant spares, along with all of their said backups fail to to be operable.

There’s a number of them still rolling around here (and our winters aren’t kind to cars either). Suzuki’s automotive engineering is decent.

Yes. The SX4 has always been on my radar for an all-weather commuter beater.

Put some 1" pucks on top of the struts, install one-size-up Michelin Crossclimate tires, and laugh at the winter roads.  You’ll pick up some floatation, add some tire diameter to bring down the engine buzz a little (add a pointer on the speedo to show where the new 60 is) and still have a mountain of money left in the

At the risk of being rude, DUUUUHHHHHHH!

I’m glad someone finally gave some recognition to the good old SX4. I’ve contemplated getting one in hatch trim, AWD and manual transmission. There’s not much to hate here, except the fact that Suzuki vehicle parts are much harder to source than the SAABs I’ve owned.

I’ve always wanted to get one as a beater and lift it:

We still get Suzukis (Suzukii?) down here in Costa Rica and they are known for being bulletproof. Want a car that only needs gas, oil changes, brakes and tires? Get a Suzuki. The newer Vitaras do seem to be a shitty car, though.

Great little cars! I’ve always looked fondly upon them and was pleased when I test drove one years ago. It’ll be good fun in the white stuff, too. Enjoy it!

These are cool, almost as cool as the Aerio SX it replaced, which had a digital dash that was awesome :o)

Maybe? It’s the perfect cheap beater for every season!

A neighbor of mine in NYC always bought and sold two cars (to friends/family): SX4's and 2-door RAV-4's, because they were both super reliable and practical city cars (seriously, he owned 4 different 2-door RAV-4's at the same time at one point, including a bonkers rare 2-door manual soft top which he wouldn’t sell me

I always wanted one of these and the last two times I was looking for a new (used) car I tried to find one somewhat near me but simply couldn’t.

I’ve always thought these were cool little cars and at that price, I’d surely roll the dice on one.

Heck yeah! It was down to either a SX4 or a Subaru Forester for me back in 2010. I chose the Subaru but my heart wanted the SX4. Plus there’s this:

They’re all over the place here in the high Rockies. Dirt cheap, rugged, goes anywhere. I strongly debated getting one this spring as a stop-gap after turning my Bolt in for a buyback, since the replacement I really wanted wasn’t out yet (Ioniq 5).

Yes! Do it!

A few things: I have only ever seen these in red. There were a ton in the SF Bay area 5 years ago. The only person I knew got rid of it and bought ‘00 Cherokee. And, she hated the damn thing.

This is a car I didn’t know existed until I moved to NYC, and now I see them all the time. I can’t believe this and its sedan counterpart offered so much car for so little.

The tunnel from 7th/57th to 63rd/Lex was already there. Built in the 70s. Was used briefly in the 90s.
