“I think you betta clone Tyrone” (“clone ‘em”)
“I think you betta clone Tyrone” (“clone ‘em”)
Hey, I only brought it up because it’s something I’ve been corrected on! We’re in the same boat.
I get you—I want both leading non-cisgender characters played by non-cisgender actors and also fun aliens that challenge gender assumptions.
Really? Guess it was so in passing that I didn’t even remember that! Good call.
I agree that we need explicit, human responses to the issues of the day now, now, now. I wouldn’t want that to take a backseat to anything. I just would love it if we had both the explicit and the implicit going on at the same time.
That’s not to say let’s swap alien gender fucking for actual human nonbinary/trangender/genderqueer representation performed by nonbinary/trangender/genderqueer actors. Let’s start with the real actors and the fully multidimensional characters and then slip in some extra credit stuff via aliens.
Gave up on Discovery, but will peek in for this. Alexander is a fave. Also, why not also explore the issue with non-human species that have four, five, six genders? Maybe an alien that moves from gender to gender based on situations or lifecycle? It’s not like scifi lit hasn’t already played with that successfully.
Good idea. Here’s T’Challa sucker punching Hate Monger (Adolf Hitler’s masked clone).
Not to “Ah, but” but ah, but people from Spain are considered Hispanic by most other Hispanics, but they can be white looking as hell. That’s not my point tho.
Brazil has its own complex and unique racial system—one that has been used to exploit and suppress, but should also be celebrated and explored—something that…
Look, good, bad, awful, interesting, at this point I’m just deeply glad we don’t have to wonder about New Mutants any longer. Also, still aggrieved that Lockheed appears as Majik’s dragon. He’s Kitty’s pal and I won’t hear anything otherwise. Also, are there still teen miners out there in coal country? This seems very…
Ironically for someone deeply obsessed with “hard power” and pushing its limits within the American political system, Trump’s truth strength within the borders of the U.S. comes from “soft power”—that is, the ability to influence or inspire action rather than directly commit it. I doubt this is intentional on his…
But this isn’t strictly her personal life—much of it centers on official internal protocol/management stuff in the East Wing. Sure, someone who was only a pal would be going beyond the pale by publishing. This isn’t that, tho.
Agreed, but only less repulsive because she appears to wield far less power. Were the scales reversed, I’m sure you and I would have different opinions.
My preemptive sympathies are with the fictional women of this yet-to-premiere series.
1. It is good and necessary.
He was just delightful in the second Far From Home post-credits bit.
I’m deeply tired of the armor and/or muscle suits cinematic Batmen have been wearing since the 80s. It slows someone who—on the printed page—is a lithe, lighting quick acrobat/ninja down into being a tank with a cape. As good as the Nolan trilogy is, the fight scenes were far from interesting. Batfleck, well, with…
When your most sympathetic character is technically a villain wearing weird-ass 40s clothes who turns into CGI sand, maybe you need a rewrite.
Funny, for some reason I was reading about the Crystar action figure line/comic book last night. For those who don’t remember, it was an attempt to create a new toy IP by Marvel. First they made the comic for the express purposes of creating a new toy, then they sold production/licensing rights to Remco. What kids…
